The Govt. of India has announced a policy to establish a state- level energy park in each state in
the country. A financial assistance of Rs.1 crore will be provided for the
installation of non-conventional and renewable energy systems. The state govt.
has to provide land free of cost and incur expenditure on construction activities.

The governing body of MEDA has approved
a proposal to establish a state- level energy park at Peshwe Park, Pune. The
park is well known for its zoo. Hence it is an attractive place for elders as
well as children. This centrally located place is the most ideal location for
setting-up an energy education park for spreading awareness about renewable
energy among the masses. The park spreads over an area of 7 acres and is
normally visited by nearly 15,000 visitors a week.
Pune Municipal Corporation has agreed to provide land free of cost. As a step
forward in promoting renewable energy concept among citizens, the Municipal
Corporation has joined hands with MEDA to establish the park at Peshwe Park, Pune.

Objective Of Energy Park
In order to generate awareness, the
best way is to display Renewable Energy- based exhibits, which are interactive
and participatory in nature. The objectives for establishing this park are
furnished below -

To impart awareness to public, students, visitors and
beneficiaries about the use of renewable energy, it's advantages, its relations
with environment, its character.

To demonstrate non-polluting renewable- based transport
system by introducing solar powered electric train.

Demonstrate the technical parts of various renewable energy
devices to educate people on the subject.

To provide the public a recreational centre integrated with
renewable energy education.

To provide a forum to the children for having fun and
experiment with renewable energy devices.

To partially meet
the energy needs of the park from renewable energy sources.
