Remote Village Electrification
A) Introduction -
The objective of the Programme is to electrify un-electrified remote census villages and un-electrified remote hamlets of electrified census villages through non-conventional energy sources such as solar energy, small hydro power, biomass, wind energy, hybrid systems, etc. Implementation of the Programme will help to achieve the goal of 100% village electrification in the country by 2017. By focusing on un-electrified remote census villages and un-electrified remote hamlets of electrified census villages, the Programme aims at bringing the benefits of electricity to people living in the most backward and deprived regions of the country.
B) Scope -
The scope of the Remote Village Electrification Programme will cover the Electrification of -
All households of un-electrified remote census villages
All un-electrified remote hamlets of electrified census villages
C) Eligibility -
The un-electrified remote census villages or un-electrified remote hamlets of electrified census villages, which will not be electrified by conventional means by the end of the eleventh Plan (2017), as certified by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd, will be eligible for coverage under the Programme.
D) Scheme, Policy - Scheme details, Central / State Policy / Subsidy
State Financial Assistance (SFA) 100% of the projects cost will be provided as grant for electrification of remote un-electrified census villages and remote hamlets of electrified census villages under this programme, with specific benchmarks as applicable in respect of the technologies adopted for electrification.
Rural Village Electrification Programme is conducted in the state of Maharashtra. As per this GR, MSEDCL has to certify that the said village / hamlet is not electrified and will not be electrified within 5 years by conventional energy. Rural Village Electrification through off-grid solar power is essential in Remote and Tribal Areas of Maharashtra. In this context list of un-electrified villages / hamlets is forwarded by MSEDCL to MEDA. Through this programme every un-electrified house hold gets one Solar Home Light system (SHL type - II) and One Solar Street Light system for every 10 house holds.
Potential, Target and Achievement details
Whatever the list of un-electrified villages / hamlets given by Maharashtra Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL) to MEDA, all these villages and hamlets has been electrified.
